2011 Kenan Fellow Kishia Moore Fletcher recently led a workshop titled "Seeing, Wondering, Theorizing, Learning: A Two-Day Workshop on Inquiry-Based Instruction in K-5 Science." The powerful Mitchell County teacher got stellar reviews from colleagues: "This was a wonderful workshop! I enjoyed all of the experiments and hands on activities we participated in... Research for 2012 Kenan Fellow Jeff Walter's project led him to Alaska. Details appeared in this article in the Charlotte Observer. The Stanly County world history teacher was researching how berries and other plants are used as medicine in native cultures.

Dr. Mary Ann Lila, Director of the Plants for Human Health Institute on the North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis and Mentor to Kenan Fellow Jeff Walter (2012), is making medical news again.
