I mean, listing one highlight of the week is IMPOSSIBLE. It’s not gonna happen! I can, however, name several things that were momentous, meaningful, and reaffirming.
First, no one can tell me that North Carolina does not have educators who are talented, committed and highly qualified. 49 people who clearly value their careers and the development of our field showed up in the mountains to connect, commune, and in the case of the Madison dorm crew, sneak a little Salsa in.
I am so inspired and moved. Connecting with like minded people is must. It was wonderful to meet everyone. We are building a structure of support for each other and these days, educators need all of the support we can get.
Secondly, everything that we experienced is useful. Learning that when there are several blue tooth devices in the room, you might not be able to connect because your tablet is confused. Who would have guessed that? And why does that matter? It matters because when we present, we need to make sure that we do the best we can do to minimize issues, or at the very least, fix them when they arise.
It was the ultimate classroom experience for educators. We tried new things and bore witness to the power of passion in the classroom. Our presenters and facilitators clearly enjoyed and believed in what they were sharing with us. They transferred an energy that will radiate withing me as I plan this course and present it to the teachers. Kudos.
Maybe as I continue to process and reflect one facet of the week will stand out. Right now, all I can say is UNFORGETTABLE. I leave you with this video and yet another example of the creativity and innovation that was stimulated at NCCAT . Thank you Kenan Staff, NCCAT staff, and Fellows for a dynamic and monumental experience!
LaTanya,
Pinpointing 1 experience is truly impossible after a week like the one we were just afforded as Kenan Fellows. I agree with you wholeheartedly as you pointed out the fact that ALL strategies/resources shared were useful; a rarity in a profession that has become inundated with too much cookie-cutter professional development.
It was a pleasure getting to meet and know you this weekend.
LaTanya,
Thanks for posting the poem! I agree that using all the technology in one room was overwhelming…but I loved that everyone had their “tech” stuff out and found it stimulating that there were so many people in one room who enjoy technology as much as do…if not more!
What an inspiring and enthusiastic update from your time at NCCAT, LaTanya. This is great stuff. It is especially wonderful to hear that you found it all useful.
Thank you for sharing.

Hello LaTanya,
How nice to see how videos can be inserted into the WordPress blogs. I liked Jonathan Wade’s poem. Perhaps someone will post it here. It was a great example of creativity, engaging the audience and sending a message.
