I am not so familiar with Common Core yet. However, I do know that it has some educators in a nerve wracking tizzy. What I also know is that the Common Core train is here and we either have to board, or get off. Thanks to Kenan, I have boarded that monster of a train and am moving to the front, one discipline at a time. I am ready to begin incorporating Common Core standards into my CTE curriculum.
Incorporating technology into the classroom can be a challenge for some. Building a successful relationship with technology in the age of Common Core is no different then connecting tech to other standards. Understanding that technology is about making things easier not about adding equipment just to add equipment is the best place to start. As I teach ANY standard, I have to evaluate what will make communicating them easier. Given our time constraints and other resource issues, we have to institute technology in a smarter and more useful way.
I don’t plan on letting any tool get the best of me. And I don’t think that any standards effect technology one way or the other. It is up to us to use and master these tools effectively with whatever guidelines we are given. We select something (or it is selected for us) and master it to bring to our students. That’s why WE TEACH.
Very well said!
