Writing Curriculum

Lesson writing and planning is a skill that takes time and reflection. Lesson plans can ALWAYS be improved and that’s a hard concept for teachers to accept. Lesson writing takes a lot of time and often teachers don’t write formal lesson plans. I personally think formally writing lesson plans is painful because it takes so long, although it has proven to be very helpful. Once the heart of the lesson has been written, it’s easy to make modifications upon reflection. When no curriculum is written out, it’s easy to forget details and often hard to replicate. Also, so long as you aren’t teaching a different curriculum every year, lesson writing and planning can vastly make a teachers life easier and have productive class days when the teacher cannot be there and there is a sub needed.
