A big thank you to Porticos and Device Solutions both located in Morrisville, NC for hosting the cohort of teachers from the ASSIST Center on Friday, June 19. The businesses team up together occasionally on various projects. Porticos focuses on providing mechanical engineering solutions where as Device Solutions handles the hardware and software side of their projects. Mr. Greg Patterson of Porticos and Mr. Chris Lamb of Device Solutions were both very gracious hosts. I was inspired by the imagination that both companies provide their clients. I hope to be able to build a relationship with these business leaders to help my students in the classroom through avenues such as field trips or guest speakers. Porticos for example holds numerous U.S. Patents and their expertise would be invaluable in teaching intellectual property in my Business Law course. Both businesses are valuable members of the community in supporting many causes in addition to education.
