I have been playing video games for as long as I can remember. Thus, I was very excited when I learned we were visiting an engineering department at NC State that applied the same 3-D technology used to make such video game characters as football and baseball players to real world nanotechnology problem solving. Topics included on our demonstration tour of NC State’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering included Visual Sensing and 3-D Reconstruction.
We also spent an afternoon with Dr. David Peden at the EPA’s Human Studies Facility at the University of Chapel Hill. Dr. Peden was a gracious host that not only gave us a tour of the facility (sorry no cameras allowed) but was also very insightful in connecting his studies of environmental impacts on human health which made for a nice connection to our research on the One Health Initiative.
