1st Day Excitement

Today was our first day as a whole group of Kenan Fellows, meeting at NCCAT in Cullowhee, NC.  What an amazing day – everything about it was effortless.  My team teacher and I rode up with another fellow who was easy-going and easy to ride with and check-in at NCCAT was simple.

The most amazing thing that I noticed was how approachable everyone was.   Most notably, during the icebreakers (there were many) we  exchanged ideas and strategies like it was nothing; there seemed to be no arguments.  After dinner many of the fellows met in the common areas of the dorms. Although we were meeting-and-greeting and playing games, the conversation continued to drift to our teaching positions, theories, and practices.

Overall, the first day has been remarkable.  The NCCAT and Kenan staff and the other fellows have made the experience amazing.  It’s like we boiled the essence of teaching down into a group of 42.  Can’t wait to see what’s next!
