Developing my PRL plan this summer, I assumed that I would go to one of favorite PD offerings of the year, the NC Science Teachers PD. Unfortunately, this did not happen. I was left scrambling to find “free” opportunities to find into my already packed schedule. I came across Microbiomes earlier this summer when I was following NCSU and CALS on Twitter. I was immediately interested. Then this fall, I got an email from Craig Tucker about it. I was so intrigued by the topic, and I already teach Microbiology anyway so this was a perfect fit (and it was free). Then, couple of weeks ago, I got an email from the NEED (National Energy Education Development) Project. Another free workshop 🙂 Again, I already teach Energy so this was a natural fit for me. I love that the PRL plan has allowed me to tailor my PD this year to things already do. I have a true love of learning, so I love going to PD anyway, but especially when I get to decide what I will be learning.
