Hello world!
Welcome to Kenan Fellows Program Blogs. Can I admit something to you? Really, I need you to read this, as I am writing to you at this very moment my next post. Come close… I mean really close..I am a newbie when it comes to blogging. Whew, I had to get that off my chest. Now I know as an educator, I am expected to know the whats, when, wheres, why and hows. At least that is what my students, parents and some other teachers think. Maybe even some administrators (Or maybe not….) While I teach Marketing to high school students, it is always my goal to make the content real and applicable to how it affects my students and their families. I endeavor to steer concepts in marketing on the significance of an online presence of an enterprise is to its community. I prompt questions in students to challenge and analyze how a regularly updated website or web page, typically one run by an individual or small group, that is written in an informal or conversational style work and why.
Well, I get to answer my own question and carry out the very tasks that I ask ninth through twelfth graders to complete during the course of a semester. But I am not taking a state exam at the end of this, and there is definitely not a grade associated with this. (At least not that I am aware of, but public opinion may dictate otherwise). So I am going to take a lot of notes, have my graphic organizers ready, re-loop curriculum, engage my instructional practices, continue to seek reputable data and differentiate my learning styles.
And if none of that makes any sense to you. Just as a teacher!
Xoxo,
Nikki
