Who are you?

My name is Emily Felker – and it’s nice to meet you!

I am a teacher by trade and a traveler by choice. I am certified to teach secondary science and currently teach 7th grade everything at The Exploris School. I believe in the power of hands-on experiences and a relationships-based approach to learning.

I have a BA in Biology from UNC-Chapel Hill and was a Burroughs Wellcome Scholar. I earned an MAT through the Global Field Program at Miami University, and in my graduate work, I traveled to Mexico, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia to study conservation biology. It is through my experiences abroad that I have developed my sense of compassion and understanding for the experiences of others.

I am a 2020-21 Kenan Fellow and believe anyone can be a scientist. In my free time, I transform into a natural introvert, and you can usually find me reading, cooking, or playing board games.
