The Kenan Fellows Program is committed to supporting and sustaining effective teacher leaders in North Carolina. Admission to the program is competitive. Fellows are expected to fulfill all program requirements.

  • One-year commitment while remaining in the classroom
  • Participate in a three-week internship during the summer
  • Complete 80 hours of professional development
  • Develop and implement relevant educational materials and/or programs based on your internship experience for use in your classroom, school system, community and beyond
  • Share your new knowledge and resources broadly
  • Submit monthly reflections and evaluations
  • Maintain positive, enduring, collaborative relationships with your mentor and other Fellows
  • Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to leadership in education
  • Attend a celebration reception and dinner at the conclusion of your fellowship in the spring
  • Actively engage in the Kenan Fellows Program Alumni Network following your formal one-year fellowship
