Assessment
To assess students’ understanding of the material, you could:
- Collect the lesson packets and check students’ responses in sections II and IV
- Have students create a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast using the graphing calculator and R
- Take a survey of preference—who likes R better than the calculator, and vice versa?
- Ask students to describe the usefulness of R
- Have students print and submit their codes and scatterplots
- Have students create a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast the three methods of variable selection
- Ask students to develop their own ideas of situations in which it would be helpful to identify the most influential variables (other times when data mining could be useful)
- Collect the lesson packets
