Presentation

This Tuesday I have the awesome opportunity to present what my fellowship team and I have been researching. The only dilemma is my own personal fear of presenting.

NervousFace1A couple of weeks ago I was asked to present to the fifth grade teachers of our district. I chose to share a resource from AMC’s strategies (the program I’ve been working with through my fellowship). The presentation of the strategy went really well. So much that several of the teachers asked for the book resources for their classroom!

The next day, I met with our district’s Executive Director of Pre-K -8 Education. She was present during the AMC strategy session from the day before and wanted to know more about AMC. I was so fortunate to share with her my personal experiences from my previous school district and grad class which used the AMC program. More then that, I was able to share the research I have discovered through this fellowship.

After our meeting, the director asked that I find volunteers in the K-2 grades to implement/pilot the program this year. She also asked that I use it in my room and host, as a model for other teachers that are interested, throughout the district, to learn more about what the program can look like in a classroom.

Which brings me to this Tuesday. I know how great the program is and it seems I have support from my administration and the district. Now, I just need to present just enough information/experience for one other teacher to be on board. Ahhh! The balance!
