Connecting To My Classroom in 2013/2014!

One way I plan to connect my summer externship experience to my classroom curriculum is by using many of the resources that I am “tagging” for Home Base to help me re-write a large portion of my curriculum. I have been teaching the same subject and the grade levels for several years.  During the course of these years, many trends in education have ebbed and flowed. As everyone is aware, one of the most current focuses for education is the STEM curriculum. I know without doubt that there is a place for my Art in this philosophy of education. Through this externship experience, I am much more equipped to tailor what I am teaching in my classroom to not only adhere to arts essential standards, but also challenge my students to a high level of learning and for creative and unique expressions, but also to engage in high quality, project-based learning that is integrated across STEM subjects. I am completely excited about the direction my teaching is taking as a direct result of what Kenan is allowing me to accomplish. Yay Kenan!

    Jayne,
I am so excited about Home Base, too! I think this is going to help educators out so much and I can’t wait to put it to use in my room.

I think it’s great that STEM in particular has inspired you, in addition to your fellowship. I was intrigued by the STEM presentation by Justin at NCCAT, but struggle with how to introduce that in a level-zero world language classroom. I can’t wait to see what you do with the resources you find!

I am at a STEM and project-based learning school, so I am so beyond excited to see everything that comes from you! I could definitely use some more resources!
