Lenovo Technology

If you haven’t noticed, I’m a bit of a tech-y. Having the Lenovo tablet this year has been a pretty amazing gift. I have definitely pushed this one to it’s limit…  literally. At one point, I was using 100% of my CPU. For those not as familiar with computers, average CPU usage starts to be a concern around 30%. Yeah. When I consider the elements that I’ve used most, it has been the desktop functionality. In fact, I rarely use the tablet at all. Wiindows 8 took some adjustment, and adding a mouse made me less likely to throw the tablet out the window. So, a few pro’s and con’s…

PRO’s

– Size and weight: This has been awesome for the traveling that I’ve done!

– Microsoft Suite: Having the newest Microsoft Office tools has been a tremendous tool for day to day life and completing my fellowship project.

– Windows 8: I didn’t think that I would have ever listed this as a positive, but I’ve become accustomed to it. There are definitely positive elements, and I’ve found some features that I like.

– Ease of Access and Set Up: Making my tablet work has been pretty intuitive. Fixes have been relatively simple, and I look forward to using it in the future!

CON’s

– Robustness: I’ve put this through the wringer. Video editing, and some other multimedia components of my fellowship were hard to complete using this tablet. It took 3+ hours to render a 20 minute video. That’s tough.

– Lack of Projector Cable: The fact that I required an additional HDMI cable to attach the computer to a projector makes it harder to use in presentation situations. If I don’t carry my own, it’s hard to rely on others to have it.

– Windows 8: I  know, I know. I have this in both places. Adjustments were not so easy, and there are some transfer issues when switching back and forth with other platforms.
