Hello world!
I am Kimberly Perry Sanderlin, an EDUCATOR 🙂 I take my career very seriously… as such training and development are foundations in who I am as an educator. I am in my 6th year of teaching at Jackson Middle School (Guilford County Schools- Greensboro, NC). For the past 5 years, I served on our 6th grade team- my first year as a Language Arts/Social Studies teacher and for the last 4 years strictly as a Language Arts teacher. This year I decided it was time to taste a new grade level and moved to 8th grade. It was a timely blessing. My husband and I gave birth to our first child in June of 2012, so I actually was continuing maternity leave during the first few weeks of the school year. Since the large majority of my 8th graders were former students, it helped to make for an easier transition back into the classroom after leave.
I stay VERY busy- both at Jackson and in other aspects of my life. My husband and I have coached year-round for the last 4 years: coaching boys volleyball, girls basketball, and softball. I also serve as the Advanced Learning (AL) Coordinator for our site. After the educational day is over, my husband and I also run a telecommunication and consulting business. I also enjoy traveling, reading, and cooking.
For me, being honored as a 2013-14 Kenan Fellow has been a humbling experience. I look forward to the entire process of the next year!
Wow and I thought I stayed busy. Can’t wait to meet you at the end of the month.
