Common Core ELA Lessons and Reflective Videos
Mentors: Julie Joslin and Anna Frost, Department of Public Instruction (DPI)
I have the privilege of working with 4 other educators from throughout the state as we create innovative resources and professional development tools to support the implementation of Common Core English Language Arts standards.
The year-long project will strengthen our understanding of the Common Core as we participate in a DPI Summer Institute held in our region of the state.
As a fellow, I will have a crucial role in preparing curriculum materials, modeling best practices in curriculum and instruction and training North Carolina teachers. Using innovative technology, our team will work with DPI to video tape a portion of our lessons as well as our reflections on the shifts demonstrated in the clip. Working with mentor Julie Joslin, our team will also deliver a webinar to other teachers in fall 2013 and lead a professional development workshop at our local RESA (Regional Educational Service Agency).
