Genetic Engineering and Society

This morning I am preparing to start my first day as a Kenan Fellow working with the Genetic Engineering and Society Center at NCSU. As I prepare for this week in the lab, I continue to think about a conversations from a few weeks ago. When we met to prepare for this summer, my advisors and I how discussed how quickly science evolves. I started studying science less than 10 years ago, and yet ideas of synthetic biology, and advanced genetic engineering technologies have changed significantly.

When thinking about teaching students science, how can I keep my instruction relevant and current as scientific ideas are constantly changing?  This is one of my main questions I hope to answer this summer.
