As a Kenan Fellow, I am part of the Students Discover Team, who all working with scientists at the Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh. More specifically, I am working on the “Digital Dinosaurs” project with Dr. Jason Bourke, a vertebrate paleontologist interested in the functional morphology of extinct reptiles. His research looks at reconstructing soft-tissue anatomy and physiology in extinct animals using computer modeling and engineering-based approaches. Together, we are working on a citizen science project where students can help Jason learn about the effect of changing ecology on dinosaur evolution by tracing the shape of virtual dinosaur skulls in 3D space.
