My name is Kate Yarborough and I teach in Buncombe County Schools at Cane Creek Middle School. I have taught here for three years and am so blessed to be a part of and contribute to this thriving mountain community. My teaching journey officially started in Greensboro, North Carolina as a pre-service teacher at the University of North Carolina of Greensboro. I graduated in May of 2013 with a bachelors degree in Middle Grades Science and Social Studies Education in grades sixth through nine. I accepted my first teaching position in Randolph County for the 2013-2014 school year until I returned back to my roots and native home in Western North Carolina. I live in Asheville, North Carolina and enjoy the many outdoor adventures the area has to offer. I am a hiker, photographer, food enthusiast and a novice rock climber and fly fisher. If I’m not teaching, it is likely that I am near one of our wonderful rivers with my black lab,Maddox, exploring and appreciating the natural beauty of our wonderful region. I enjoy spending time with my family who have exuberant amounts of musical talent and enjoy time with my fiance, John, who always sparks a sense of adventure in my life and encourages me to live life outside of the box.
