Hi everyone!  My name is Michelle Beatty McElhiney and I am a 2017-2018 Kenan Fellow.  I currently teach 5th grade at Oakhurst STEAM Academy in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, NC.  This will be my 11th  year teaching; my team and I will be implementing Personalized Learning along with my PBL created for the KFP.  It’s going to be a rather experimental kind of year!

My husband and I will be celebrating our first anniversary this coming October.  He has been so incredibly supportive throughout my career and understands my dedication to my classroom.  I know, I am a lucky woman!  We recently got a Boxer/Pit puppy who has added a ton of joy, laughter and excitement to our lives!
