I am so excited to have been selected as a Kenan Fellow. I have heard of Kenan Fellows for many years and was so very excited when I got an email about the first possible Kenan through STEM West. I applied immediately, but the funding fell through. I was busy the next year and missed the chance to apply when funding was available. All was good as a colleague did not miss it and was selected. I knew this year I had to apply and was probably one of the first applications returned. I was so excited to get to the interview stage and was stoked at the opportunity to work at Eaton or Biltmore Farms. Then COVID19 came along and I thought all was ruined. I was elated when Mark called to let me know I would be a Fellow and would get to work at Eaton. Though this year is unprecedented and fraught with a myriad of new challenges, I know this journey will push me to be a better educator, a better mentor and a better leader. I am honored and humbled to have been selected and hope to live up to those who have come before and are leading education in North Carolina.
