For this investigation you will be using the web site www. forestrycareers.org to explore career opportunities in forestry and natural resources.
Materials
- Computer with Internet access and Microsoft word or equivalent program.
- Copy of Forestry Careers assignment sheet.
Procedure
- Turn on the computer and go to www.forestrycareers.org.
- Click on the careers button.
- Answer the following questions.
Evaluation
- What is the salary range for careers in forestry?
- What are the eight major sub-disciplines in Forestry and Natural Resources?
- Click on one of the sub-disciplines “learn more” buttons.
- Which sub-discipline did you click one?
- List three careers found in the sub-discipline.
- View a profile of one of the “In the Field” personalities.
- Whom did you select?
- Summarize the views of the personality on his/her chosen career in two to three sentences.
- Select another sub-discipline.
- Which sub-discipline did you click one?
- List three careers found in the sub-discipline.
- View a profile of one of the “In the Field” personalities.
- Summarize the views of the personality on his/her chosen career in two to three sentences.
Forestry Job Listing
Directions:
You need to select one of the careers found on www.forestrycareers.org and design and print a job listing.
The job listing must use factual information about the career. Only the business name, address and phone numbers may be imaginary.
The Forestry Job Listing must include the following:
- Business Name, address, phone number
- Contact name (your name)
- Salary range of the position
- Job description including tasks, responsibilities, duties, etc.
- Education requirements
- Work experience requirements
