Lesson 1: What exactly is Sustainable Forest Management?

Wow, that is a mouthful isn't it? Lets try to simplify it a little bit. Sustainable forestry is the management of forest ecosystems for the good of all concerned. This means that a forest manager looks at all the stakeholders in a forest system and tries to meet the interests of all of them as much as possible. What is a stakeholder?

So who are the stakeholders in a forest? See if you can figure out a few.

Imagine that you are a forest manager and have been hired to manage a stand of forest for a local landowner. Generate a list of stakeholders and describe the interests of each and how you will meet those interests to the best benefit possible for all.
