About the Author

Sonja McKay is a Nationally Board Certified seventh grade teacher at Exploris Middle School, an innovative charter school in downtown Raleigh, NC. She earned her MEd in Middle Grades Mathematics Education from UNC Chapel Hill. She earned her undergraduate degree in Middle Grades Mathematics and Science Education as a Teaching Fellow at Appalachian State University. Before moving to Raleigh in 2004, Sonja taught sixth grade mathematics and science in Guilford County.
