A Bit About Me

Hello there,

My name is Donna Podgorny. Me llamo Dona. Je m’apelle Donna. 我叫唐娜。Nama saya Donna. Ang pangalan ko ay Donna. Ich heisse Donna. As there are computer geeks and science geeks, so there are language geeks. I truly enjoying learning other languages. With radar ears and a bit of curiosity you can begin learning by eaves dropping  – for free! Imagine waiting in line somewhere bored stiff or waiting in line listening to what others are saying and trying to learn a few phrases at the same time. Of course, combining language learning with international travel and international eating is a good combination. My husband and I had the good pleasure to visit Santiago, Chile and Buenos Aires and Iguazu, Argentina this March. It was so wonderful to explore and listen to Spanish again 24 / 7.

Oh, and yes, these habits lead me to teach Spanish and attempt to inspire the world to learn another or lots of languages. I am sure you know the definition of bilingualism, multilingualism and monolingualism. Too many conclude that: a person who speaks two languages is bilingual; a person who speaks more than two languages is multilingual; and a person who speaks only one language (a monolingual) is from the US.

I currently work in Union County as the World Language Curriculum Coordinator. I am always looking for resources to share with the great teachers there.

Ciao
