About My Fellowship

I am working in the Genomics Lab at the Natural Science Museum in Raleigh.  I am working with a post doctorate expert in microbes and genomics, Dr. Julia Stevens.  I am also working with my fellow teachers, Arthina Blanchard and Laura Chochrane.  We will be studying the microbiome of dandelions by collecting soil around the dandelion roots and sequencing the DNA we find, to find out which bacteria and fungi are present.

  1. WOW! Those biotechniques you will be learning are priceless! Hey if NC teachers don’t get paid any better you can always work in a lab with your new found knowledge, lol. What an experience!
