I have to say that the best moment at NCCAT was getting to meet and spend time with my fellow Fellows. The professional development and technology tools were great, but being able to make those connections with other teachers as into education as myself was a breath of fresh air. I’m sure we all know at least one teacher on our hall that seems so weighed down with the tragedy of it all (the legislature, DPI, the kids, their parents etc.) that you wonder why they don’t just retire early and find a new career. I felt that with the Kenan Fellows this week, even though we may have complained about some of those same things, there was still an underlying optimism that you really need to keep a hold of.
NCCAT Highlight
This was totally a highlight for me too, Chris! It’s easy as teachers to fall in line with the level of morale or the culture of complaining of the teachers around us. It’s totally invigorating and refreshing to know that this KF bunch will be a place we can go to juice-up on the positivity and passion and excitement for the profession.
