Hey there. The name’s Chris England and I am a 3rd year teacher at Louisburg High School in Franklin County. I can’t express how excited I am to have been selected for this opportunity as such a new teacher. I graduated from Elon University’s teacher education program in 2011 with a degree in secondary science education and a concentration in physics. Right out of college, I was hired at LHS to teacher chemistry and physics. But before I get into more details about myself, I thought it would be useful to introduce you to my school and county.

Franklin county is fairly small county located just north of Raleigh. As a small county, we often find ourselves very limited in the resources available to us. That being said, we make good use of the resources that we have. Our technology department in particular works tirelessly to ensure that we have SMART boards in almost every classroom and plenty of other technology available. LHS is the smallest of the three full high schools in the county with only 550 students enrolled. but even with such a small enrollment, we work to offer a wide variety of courses and electives to give our students the best opportunities around.

Now on to me. I figured that if I’m going to brag about myself, the best method would be to simply list some of the things I have been able to accomplish in these past three years:

  • Developed and implemented a new AP Chemistry and AP Physics program.
  • Created an Astronomy elective course that has been expanded into two class sections.
  • Received over $8000 in grant funds to develop programs.
  • Started and coached a Science Olympiad team.
  • Elected to the School Improvement Team.
  • Elected to the Superintendent’s Teacher Advisory Council.

That’s about all I can think of right now.I look forward to getting to know everyone.
