So, I’ve been playing around in the dashboard for few days now and I think I have my blog looking roughly the way I want it to. If someone out there can let me know what your thoughts are and if it displays strangely on your platform, I would appreciate it.
I probably spent more time doing little tweaks to the CSS than I should have, but I can get to be a little too anal retentive when it comes to web and graphic design. I must say that having only a few themes to choose from was certainly much more limiting than I had expected, but it was also an interesting challenge to see what could be done within those confines.
It was fun building the DNA strand in Illustrator, I’m still surprised at how well it turned out. I even color-coded the base pairs. I tried to do something more interesting with the backbone than just plain black, but it all looked terrible, so I’m sticking with the black for now. if you want to use the image on your own blog as a background or manipulate it in some other way, feel free. Here is the link to the DNA image. If you want the Illustrator file to play with, just drop me a message.
Anyways, I think I’m babbling a little bit so I will just stop while I’m ahead. I think I’ll work on an ‘about me’ page now.
Chris, I’m definitely loving the work thus far! I’m happy to enable some more themes on the network if you’ve got any personal favorites 🙂
It has been so long since I have done any work with wordpress that I can’t even think of one theme that I remember liking. But then again, they all have their own little quirks and issues. I think the options you already installed are a broad enough spectrum, yet still allow for customization on different levels (changing images, color palettes, and custom css).
I think this is great. I keep thinking I will spend time on my page, but so far it has been limited. However, I’m inspired.
