Based on your experiences, what are the greatest challenges for leveraging technology to empower learning in your classroom and school?

I have a slightly different view of technology in the classroom. I have been in a 1:1 school for the last 4 years, meaning every student 6th and above has a school Macbook, all classes pre-k -5 have weekly access to a computer las, i-pads, and classrooms computers, and every class has a Promethian Board. We have been successful getting technology into the class, which has brought a whole new host of issues. My greatest challenge has been teaching from the back of the class, and being “a step ahead” of new and improved classroom issue that arise due to technology. For example, cyber bullying, video games, in appropriate content, etc.. I am great full to have the technology, and I truly feel the benefits far out weight the problems. I am finding that it is getting easier, but I must always be on the look at for the next “technology induced issue”.

How times have changed huh? Remember when the one of the biggest problems was passing notes in class? You sound like you are on the right track to using the technology in your class.

I couldn’t agree more, I wish I only had to worry about little notes that said “check yes or no” …. oh man those were the days! Thank you for your encouragement!
