The biggest challenges I have with technology concerns availability and reliability. Many of the apps available for iPhone and Android are not accessible at school. Example, Google Translate offers an app that you can take a picture of text, highlight the selected text,and then translate it. I tried this app in my classroom with my ESL students, but to my dismay, the app would not work… Many teachers seem put off by technology because of prior bad experiences. Does this sound familiar, you sign your class up 2 weeks in advance, have all students double check their passwords, create an awesome lesson, then get to the lab and half the computers won’t logon and the other half take 15 min. to logon.
