At my school, we have 2 computer labs with about 20 computers and a smaller lab with about 15 computers. Each classroom has a SmartBoard and some classrooms have an additional computer. We have about 17 laptops and I was informed that we will be getting a class set of Chrome Books.  We do have Wifi and our county just decided that we could start bringing our own devices and connect them to the network. So, the challenge isn’t that we don’t have the technology. The challenge is that it is hard to get to the technology. We have a flex schedule for the computer labs which means that as soon as the weekly schedule is posted you have to be ready to sign up for the time slots. Planning well ahead of time is essential for getting into the labs. Then when the time gets close to getting into the lab, you have to hope there isn’t a setback like SNOW.

Using sites like Edmodo & Google Drive will really be helpful. I have used google docs before with great success. The students and parents really enjoyed having access to the documents and calendar. I would love to incorporate Trello into my classroom when students are working on assignments in groups. The only drawback with using these sites will be students who don’t have access to computers at home. So, I will definitely have to find time for them to get to the labs or use Chrome Books to work on assignments .
