After having some reflection time, I have determined what the Professional Development Institutes mean to me. (Yes, I’m an  I25 & proud of it!) First, I want to say that all three PD institutes have given me more confidence in my abilities to lead others.  The institute at NCCAT & the one in Raleigh provided me with more resources to use at work and share with others. The last institute showed me how to make my voice heard by policy makers. More importantly, all of the institutes provided me with a new network of friends and colleagues. Now that you know I’m a true introvert, you know how difficult it can be for me to reach out and be a part of this network. However, the T27 side of me knows how logical the decision to be part of such a wonderful network truly is. I can tell you a few years ago I would have been identified in the judging section and that I would not have planned to take on such a daunting task as being a Kenan Fellow. Now that I’m older, I have changed & the P1 side of me is glad that I have been flexible with my career decisions. I have seen and heard truly amazing people share awesome ideas. I have tasted some of the best food I have ever had at any PD session. I smelled fresh air in the mountains while at NCCAT. However, the most important sense I have used is letting these awesome people touch my life as well as touch the lives of all the students and teachers that will benefit from my experience as a Kenan Fellow. Therefore, I can sum up the institutes by say that they all have appealed to my S17 side!
