Teachers know that we are educating students so they can be successful in their learning process & their future careers. However, we get caught up in what is going on in our classrooms and we forget to look at what is happening in the workforce. We know technology has changed because we deal with it everyday. Really, we only look at specific changes like new apps, social media, or searching for new lesson plans. What we don’t really know about is how technology has changed in other workplaces. The Kenan Fellow/Mentor partnership opened my eyes to all of these new changes. Now, I really look beyond the classroom setting to what is going on in other workplaces. Blogs like 10 Skills The Workforce of the Future Will Need and 10 Skills the Future Workforce Will Need: Connections to GIS mean a lot more to me. When I share information like these blogs, people listen and take notice because they know I am a Kenan Fellow who has worked with a mentor in a company that uses technology. This company, Biogen Idec, demonstrates why the 10 Skills The Workforce of the Future Will Need is so important. This partnership has meant a great deal to me because it has opened my eyes to whole new world that is developing faster than we can keep up with!
