After reading the prompt for this blog and reflecting on this week, I realized that I had several highlights but they all had a common theme. I also realized these highlights were also my “Aha” moments. These moments came more from our casual conversations while eating or taking a break or rafting down an extremely cold river. I listened to how the middle school teachers and high school teachers discussed how they conducted their classes and the activities they had for their students. I listened to our river guide give instructions to help us navigate the river. These conversations all revolved around communication. Not just general communication, but accurate, detailed communication. I realized that the teachers and the river guide were all describing the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for their classes or rafts. My project with Biogen revolves around SOPs and how vital they are to the success of the company and the products they are making. SOPs are everywhere and are intertwined with everything we do. So, now my goal is to figure out a way to show how important SOPs are and how relevant they are to our everyday lives.  How cool is that!

I really enjoyed Erin’s session also. I think she really settled my nervous. I also enjoyed talking “school” over dinner with you and other teachers.

    Excited for Raleigh.
