I joined a network of educators who are interested in connecting STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) to their instruction. The Kenan fellowship is an excellent way to demonstrate leadership through creating new lessons based on my summer research internship while improving my teaching strategies. I desire to expand my instruction by integrating current STEM research proven strategies; which will expand my effectiveness as a middle school math teacher.

Students who partake in the created curriculum will learn how to analyze math in interdisciplinary lessons. The hands-on approach of STEM will assist students with remaining engaged and enjoying the learning process. In addition to providing hands-on experiences for my students, the Kenan program will afford me the opportunity to share the knowledge and resources gained from participating in this prestigious program with my colleagues. I am very excited to expand my professional development opportunities while sharing my learning experience in the field of mathematics. This year long career experience will be an honor and I look forward to continuing with the vision and mission of the Kenan journey.

It is my goal as an educator to combine my experience, compassion, intellect, and enthusiasm to contribute to the overall success of my students via the Kenan Fellowship program.
