And so it begins….

It is time to begin a new adventure; a professional journey meant to help me evolve as a teacher.  I feel incredibly lucky to have been chosen to be a Kenan Fellow.  This opportunity is going to allow me a chance to experience science in the field at Underwriters Laboratories, UL.  Last week I went to UL for my first tour, it was so interesting.  My head is swimming with information as I begin to figure out how to bring this experience back to Underwood.  I am also looking forward to my week at NCCAT. The description of my week at NCCAT is as follows:

“For the eighth year, NCCAT’s western campus will host the summer institute for the incoming class of Kenan Fellows. The Kenan Fellows Program is an innovative model to promote teacher leadership, address teacher retention, and advance K–12 science, technology, and mathematics education. Kenan Fellows are public school teachers from diverse disciplines, selected through a competitive process to participate in a prestigious fellowship. The Kenan Fellows Institute is an intensive professional development experience that explores issues related to educational leadership, integrated science, appropriate use of educational technology, and applied ethics. NCCAT continues to be a proud partner and supporter of this valuable program.”

So as this adventure begins,I want to say a few thank you’d.  I must thank my Underwood Foundation for making this opportunity a reality.  I need to thank my family for their support and for encouraging me apply.

    Rhonda,

I really do hope that your opportunity with UL is fantastic. It’s such an amazing company!
I’m so sorry that I can’t join you all at NCCAT, but I do look forward to chatting with you throughout your Fellowship experience. Feel free to let me know how I can be of assistance to you during the next year.
