A bit about me…

I guess it is important for people to know who I am.  In reverse chronological order, I am a Kenan Fellow class of 2015-16 working with Underwriters Laboratories to bring “real world” science back to Underwood Elementary School.  I was named Teacher of the Year at Underwood in 2014-2015, which really allowed me an opportunity to reflect on my life as a teacher.  I will have conquered breast cancer as of July 2015. I couldn’t have done it without the support of family, friends, and my students. They were the reason I got up each day, put a smile on my face, held my bald head high, and went to work.  They didn’t judge but instead showered me with love and encouragement daily. I have been teaching for 9 1/2 years, 9 of them at Underwood Elementary.  Prior to teaching, I was a stay at home mom.  I am the proud mom of two daughters, Katrina, now 24, a food scientist living in Dallas Texas and  working for Daisy Sour Cream.  Rebecca, a 22 year old recent (as of May 2015) graduate of Salisbury University (Salisbury, MD) with a degree in biochemistry.  (Currently looking for a job if anyone has any connects call me.)  I have been married to Jim Connor for 28 years!  Wow!, we have lived in eight different states and had wonderful adventures together.  He is my biggest supporter and my best friend.  Before getting married, I grew up in rural Ohio.  My parents are still married after 52 years of marriage, and have one sister, Sondra, in Kettering, Ohio.  Growing up I learned to work hard and be honest.  It has served me well.
