The fellowship this summer was great because of the collaboration throughout the professional development session and working with a mentor. There were a lot of ideas that were presented regarding applications that can be used in the classroom, as well as curriculum application in the classroom. The opportunity has given me the chance to broaden my thinking to encompass data driven applications more effectively in the classroom, as well as project based learning. One thing I looked forward to with the new school year was implementing more project based learning in the classroom. I always knew that students comprehended the curriculum better when they could reach a conclusion on their own and help others to do the same, but this reaffirmed my thoughts about this. Despite knowing that, I have not done the best of jobs in the past with creating and implementing projects in the classroom. This is something I hope to change this year.
