Bio

Hello, my name is Mitch Harper and I am starting my second year of teaching here at North Duplin Jr/Sr. This school is my alma mater, having graduated from here as Salutatorian. Afterwards, I went on to obtain my BS degree in English / Secondary Education, with certification to teach Middle Grades Science from the University of North Carolina–Charlotte.

In addition to being an alumni of UNC Charlotte, I am also a North Carolina Teaching Fellow, as well as a Golden LEAF Scholar, Golden Key International Member, and a Duplin County Minority Teachers Scholar. During my time at UNC Charlotte, I was a Writing Consultant for the university’s Writing Resources Center for 2.5 years.

Outside of North Duplin, I will typically be around the Mt. Olive Boys & Girls Club helping to facilitate after-school extracurricular programs for that organization. My hobbies include running & exercise, reading books, spending time with family & friends, traveling, and writing poetry.
