My goals from the Kenan internship are to increase my professional experience as both a teacher and a person. A few of my mail goals include:

My first goal is to network with other teachers. The best ideas come from other teachers who have tried them inside their classroom. Kenan is great to have time to work with other teachers and describe what we do in our classrooms. We talk about what works, and what does not. In my short time in the internship I have learned a lot from others, and plan on bringing that back into my classroom.

Another goal of mine was to gain professional experience that I can bring back to the classroom. My main objective as a teacher is to help better prepare students for the real world, and working with my mentors at the college has already helped me do that.

Lastly I believe everyone should always be learning. In my classrooms I am constantly preaching to my students that they should always be learning. With all the free resources out today, it is very easy to learn anything you are interested in. I think Kenan was a great opportunity for me to put myself out of my comfort zone and grow as a person and educator.

I really enjoyed my time at NCCAT. I feel that I learned a lot of useful information throughout the team building, seminars, and interacting with other teachers. I thought it was a great experience, and I am very glad I had the opportunity to attend this professional development.

Two things I plan on using in my classroom in the fall semester are Trello and Infographics. Trello is a great tool that I can integrate into my project management course that will help the students stay organized, and allow me to easily assess their progress on a project. The infographics seminar was my favorite seminar. I have been wanting to use infographics for the last year, but have not had the time to sit and think of ways to use it in my course. During the seminar, I had the chance to play around and brainstorm ideas on using infographics in my classroom.

My favorite session of the week was the EDCamp PBL sessions. It was very informative talking with other teachers who are implementing PBL learning into their classroom. I heard a lot of techniques that I plan on using with my lessons.

When I heard of the Kenan Fellows program I immediately thought that it would be a great opportunity for myself to grow professionally. I am a person who loves to learn, and the Kenan program seemed like a great chance to do so. I feel that I will learn a lot about technology, PBL learning, teaching strategies and grow my teaching network.
