Founded in 2000, the Kenan Fellows Program for Teacher Leadership addresses the critical need for high-quality professional development for educators, and is the largest (science, technology, engineering and math) STEM-focused teacher leadership program in North Carolina.

Crystal Folger-Hawks is the Career Coach for Surry County Schools and Surry Community College. She is nationally board certified renewed in Career & Technical Education, taught work-based learning Family & Consumer Sciences courses for 12 years in Stokes County and was the College Liaison at East Surry High School for 3 years. She has her BS degree in Family & Consumer Sciences Education from Virginia Tech and Masters in School Administration from UNC Greensboro. As the Career Coach, Crystal works with businesses and students to implement apprenticeships and extended internship opportunities for students. She also works with Surry Community College to provide industry-recognized credentials for interns.
