What to choose? Over our summer experience we had exposure to very amazing instructional techniques, but what to choose? I felt like I should start small. I chose to incorporate humor. What I have done is started adding a meme at the beginning of every lesson. It has gotten good reviews! The kids look forward to it. Sometimes they’re winners sometimes they’re not. But I think starting off a class like that frames the experience. It also helps with classroom culture. Our school focuses on PEAK which is a way to instruct as well as put our kids needs ahead of everything. The motto is, “Our kids are worth whatever it takes”. Starting off the class with humor is part of this PEAK. It helps have a light feeling in the classroom. Next I hope to incorporate more strategies from PBL. More on that to come.
