A Dream Come True
Ever since I was in college, I dreamed of supporting/teaching English language learners (like me) as a Title III Resource Teacher. I wanted to work for the district office and represent children of all languages, countries, and cultures.
When I began my career in 2013, I was a substitute teacher. Afterwards I spent the next five years as a Kindergarten Teacher. I loved teaching Kindergarten because I enjoyed watching all of my students discover new things everyday. In Kindergarten, all children are English learners.
Last year, I served as a K-2 ESL teacher to expand my reach and grow my skills. It was the most rewarding job because I worked with half of the students at my school. I also served as an interpreter for the school’s English learners and their families. I thought I had the best job in the whole world and then…
This year, I accepted my dream job of Title III Resource Teacher. This is the job I have always wanted and dreamed of. I didn’t accept the position because it was the easiest job. I accepted this position because it would enable me to grow as an educator. It’s also the one that scares me the most. Yet, I believe I was chosen because I have special skills. My job responsibilities entail: meeting/supporting ESL teachers/schools, creating and delivering professional development, and designing curriculum. I look forward to learning and growing into the best version of myself.
