Moving Forward & Making Plans

This fellowship has ignited a spark in me that will not easily be diminished. I want to create a long-lasting program at my school that will have a high impact on my students and the community. After meeting this group of passionate educators I realize the possibility of creating something is closer and just a matter of me starting it. Over these next few weeks, I will be thinking about my goals and what I want to accomplish. Thinking about my goals critically and creating an authentic and engaging experience for my students and community.

This week has been unlike any professional development I have had in the past. I have never felt more a part of a community at the end of a week of PD. The way we all want to bring each other up together and the vast range of expertise and life experiences are invaluable. To be able to share and to be heard simultaneously has not happened in many professional spheres I’ve been in before. I am very grateful to be a part of the Kenan Class of 2020-2021. Once a Kenan, always a Kenan, and I feel that deep in my heart. I can’t wait to begin this beautiful journey of growth alongside my cohort. Thank you Summer Institute for making me excited to be in the classroom once again after a trying year.
