The plight of the perfectionist…

This has been a really hard day for me because there is so much information we are getting.  I am having a bit of a love/hate relationship with the PD work.  I LOVE the resources we are learning about, but I HATE that I am getting so much surface skimming and not mastering any of the tools.  I understand that this is part of my personality- I have a really hard time knowing about something, but not really knowing it.  That being said, I get that these types of experiences are really good for me, as they push me past my perfectionist mindset.  I simply can’t perfect all these new tools in one sitting, and quite honestly, I may not ever really “perfect” them!  It is going to take trial and error, patience, and some yoga breathing.  Or, as my wonderful table mates told me- big shout out to them- it will just take some porch pd time tonight and things will be much better! 🙂

    Katie,

I shared your feelings on Tuesday. I was frustrated by information overload and the lack of cooperation from our internet connection. I had to debrief on my blog too. I think that trying to force technology in the classroom doesn’t work. I’m going to keep those technology resources mentioned this week in the front of my mind when planning for instruction, and when an appropriate opportunity presents itself I’m sure that the appropriate technology tool will jump out at me!

I had so much fun with you last week! I’m glad you are my fellow DPI Math fellow!
    Alex
