Mendy’s time to “WINE”

Duplin Logo

Last week began an important phase in my teaching career—I stepped foot into a winery!  I know, I know, this is something weird for a teacher to brag about, but how can I do anything else when this visit to the Duplin Winery meant so much more than my other visits.  This time there was more at stake than a tasting, a dinner, or a chance to blow my budget on wine (After all, those of us that have taught Civics understand the concept of cheaper by the dozen!)  This visit began the first official day of my Kenan Fellow Externship.

Being a Kenan Fellow means a lot more to me than a summer paycheck (YAY MONEY).  It means having a chance to learn and grow in ways that will help me, my students, and hopefully even my fellow teachers.  It also means exposure to new ideas, new people, and new technology.   I look forward to learning all that I can over the next few weeks and know that this is an experience I will never forget.
