Blog Usage

Using the blog has been a new experience for me. The blog has been a great avenue to share my Kenan experience and to see what other Kenan Fellows are doing. My school system is using Haiku, “a Learning Management System” with a “Discussion Board” component. The Discussion Board is very similar with “The Blog.” I hope to use this component more on a daily basis to enhance writing skills.

Reflection…Experience…Impact

My summer externship was amazing! Surry-Yadkin EMC and NCEMC showed me a side of the electrical business that I had no clue existed. The generation of
electricity is an awesome resource that we take for granted. I know how
2014-Mosley-Website-1500x600power is generated, distributed and delivered to the home. I want to show my students this process and the importance of the Co-ops to our community.

I am proud to be a Kenan Fellow!

This was a major undertaking! I spent a tremendous amount of time researching, creating, writing, reflecting and processing as I wrote this lesson. I wanted the lesson to be meaningful and reflect a real world setting. This is only a start; I hope that others can build on this lesson and make it bigger and better!

Lenova Technology

I am so thankful for my Lenovo Tablet. I have taken my tablet with me to all events, professional development, and every day of my internship. My tablet has allowed access to the internet and with other Kenan Fellows.  My tablet has also been a tool within my classroom. Thanks Lenovo!!!!

The partnership that has been developed between Surry-Yadkin EMC, Surry County Schools and the students in my classroom is a life learning experience. This partnership will touch the students in my classroom and spill over to their personal lives. The students will learn the importance of electricity – with electricity being a common appliance of everyday life!

Social Media

Social Media can be such a positive tool to use in and outside the classroom.   However, teaching students to use this tool in a proper manner and with adequate morals is quite a task.    However, social media is an important real life opportunity and normalcy.   For teachers, it gives us an opportunity to collaborate with professionals, teachers and other resources to enhance our teaching skills.  For students, social media is also and opportunity to collaborate with students on projects, communicate with other students from around the world, chat with professionals such as doctors, scientists, historians, and authors.  However, it is hard to use social media and compete with pictures taken in the restroom!

New Teaching Strategies

This summer has been incredible!  I have learned so much about something that I use everyday–every second!  Teamwork and leadership skills are so important to be productive, not only successful but productive.

We take electricity for granted.  Through my experience, I will be able to take my students on a “energy journey”   from generating to delivery.  I have experienced first hand from the paperwork to the connection!  I want my students to come to class prepared to learn more tomorrow than they did today!!!
