What an awesome week!
I, too, like many others was scared to death with the thought of white water rafting. As the time approached, I was getting courageous and decided that I would take full advantage of this opportunity. So I got a front row seat! I listened carefully as our guide gave instruction. Held my paddle correctly and here we go. Man that water was cold!!!!!!!
The ride down the river started really smooth and calm. As the rapids increased, so did the cold water splashes, talking about a chill! I was white water rafting. What an awesome day! I had the hang of river and was really enjoying myself.
Our instructor yelled, “Y’all want to hit the rock ahead?” We all yelled “yeah” and were ready to go. The rock was about 6 or 7 feet tall and it was at an incline. Somewhat like a backwards check-mark. I was sitting on the right side of the boat. As the raft hit the rock, the left side turned upward and the impact knocked me over board. However, my feet and hands were still in the raft. I was “river skiing!” My teammates came to my rescue and pulled me back into our raft.
The scenery of the Nantahala River was breath taking! I am so thankful for this opportunity.
The food was awesome!
